This is 'The Year of the Bible' and I, like many others, am reading the entire Bible in a year. As the world looks on in amazement, on TV and the Internet, at the incredible events unfolding in Tahrrir Square, Cairo, I can't help but draw parallels with the opening chapters of the book of Exodus where an oppressed religious minority plead to their God for help. Again and again, their leader, Moses appeals to the authoritarian dictator, Pharaoh, and the words, 'Let my people go!' are ringing out in Pharaoh's ears. Similarly the people of Egypt have protested, relatively peacefully, against the authoritarian dictator, Hosni Mubarak, from whose rule they wish to be freed. And now they have!
